Current Ethical Issues in Substance Use Disorders Treatment:

Recognizing the unique confidentiality requirements of substance use disorders treatment and prevention programs;

· Understanding the special requirements pertinent to obtaining informed consent for substance use disorders treatment programs;

· Considering the issue of “duty of care” as it relates to this population and to these programs;

· Becoming familiar with those aspects of respect for self-determination that frequently arise in this area; and

· Becoming familiar with emerging requirements for documentation by practitioners of specific competencies in the field of substance use disorders treatment.

The workplace is increasingly complicated, with employees working in teams and groups. Diversity on a number of dimensions including age, gender, and ethnicity adds to the complexity and extent of nonproductive conflict. This course will introduce the basics of interest-based negotiation and mediation that EAPs, supervisors and managers can use to create a more civil and productive workplace. This course provides an overview of the history of Tai Chi and Qi Gong. These are related, coordinated physical disciplines for health maintenance or treatment of disease.
